ABSTRACT

Objective@#To revised the Taiwan version successful aging inventory (SAI), and verify its reliability and validity in urban elderly in mainland China.@*Methods@#SAI was adjusted by culture and revised by pre-test to form a formal questionnaire. A sample of 600 elderly people in Guangzhou was chosen for a face-to-face questionnaire survey through convenient sampling. Half of the sample (n=300) was randomly selected for exploratory factor analysis, and the other was used to confirm the structural validity of SAI.@*Results@#Exploratory factor analysis extracted six common factors, including health autonomy, economic security, life adaptation, society and relative relationship, study and family. The cumulative contribution rate of six common factors was 65.366%. The fitting indexes of confirmatory factor analysis were χ2/df=1.861, CFI=0.930, IFI=0.930, TLI=0.923, GFI=0.823, RMSEA=0.054, RMR=0.073. There were significant ceiling effects in the four dimensions of health autonomy, economic security, life adaptation, and family. The internal consistency coefficient (Cronbach's α) of SAI was 0.930, and the test-retest reliability was 0.943. An average score of SAI ≥ 3.95 points was considered successful aging.@*Conclusion@#Reliability and validity of SAI are good, which can be used to measure the successful aging status of Chinese elders and track the effectiveness of health promotion measures.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To research the anti-dysmenorrhea effect of different extracts of Rupixiao granules. Methods:The anti-dys-menorrhea effect of different extracts of Rupixiao granules was studied by writhing test induced by oxytocin in mice. Results:Compared with the model group, the extracts of Rupixiao granules could reduce the writhing times induced by oxytocin significantly (P0. 05). Conclusion:The water-soluble parts of Rupixiao granules have significant anti-dysmenor-rhea effect.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo study the effects of polypeptide extract from scorpion venom (PESV) alliance with chemotherapy on angiogenesis of Lewis lung carcinomas (LLC) and its mechanism.

METHODLLC cells suspension (4 x 10(6) cells/mL) were subcutaneously injected into 54 C57BL/6J mice in right armpits. Then the tumor-bearing mice were randomly divided into three groups: the control group, the chemotherapy group and the PESV group. Cyclophosphamide was used to establish the model of cancer. Chemotherapy and PESV were added to the PESV group. Every 7 days, 6 mice of each group were executed, and the experiments were carried out for 28 days. The tumor volume and inhibitory rate were determined. Immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR were used to determine the expression of factor VIII, alpha-SMA, Dll4 and Notch1 in tumor tissue. Correlation analysis was used to identify the relationship of factor VIII and calculate microvessel density (MVD), alpha-SMA and vascular maturity.

RESULTThe inhibitory rate of PESV was 42.21%. Comparing with the chemotherapy group, the expression of tumor factor Dll4 and Notch1 in the PESV group were decreased significantly (P < 0.05). The expression of factor VIII and alpha-SMA in the chemotherapy group is lower than the control group (P < 0.05), while it's higher when compared with the PESV group (P < 0.01). Expression of Dll4 and Notch1 in the chemotherapy group at the 28th day were higher than the control group (P < 0.05), and the expression in the PESV group at the 21st day were significantly lower than the chemotherapy group (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONPESV could inhibit the angiogenesis of LLC. It might be attained by decreasing the level of angiogenic factors, that are factor VIII, alpha-SMA, Dll4 and Notch1 in tumor microenvironment.
